TikTok has taken the world by storm. Even if you’re not an avid TikTok user, you have to admit that the app has made it incredibly easy to learn new hacks, tips, and information in a matter of seconds. Instead of watching a 10-minute YouTube video on something you’re interested in, you can watch a 30-second reader’s digest version of it on TikTok. Oftentimes you can learn something you didn’t know just by scrolling on the app. For example, how to clean under a gas stove top. Before you try out a TikTok hack, you may want to do a bit more research because some can actually be fake and could result in you wasting your time.
Without further ado, here are trending TikTok cleaning hacks that actually work for you to keep in your cleaning arsenal.
1. Use a refillable scrubber to clean your shower.
If you have a hard time keeping your pesky showers clean, this hack will be your saving grace. First, you’re going to want to buy a refillable scrub brush from a local store such as a Walmart or Safeway, or you can order a pack on Amazon. Then, you’ll fill it with dish soap and vinegar. You’ll want to use a strong dish soap that can easily cut through grime. The final step is to use it to clean your showers while you’re showering. It only adds an extra 5-minutes to your shower but will save you time and energy down the line. Many people like to keep it in the shower so that it’s there when you need it, it also serves as a gentle reminder so that you can’t conveniently procrastinate on the task.
2. Use a Swiffer and a microfiber cloth to easily clean your hard to reach mirrors.
This hack will make you feel like a professional window/mirror washer. It will cut down your cleaning time if you’re trying to clean the mirrors throughout your home. You’ll simply want to take a Swiffer, or any type of mop that you could attach a microfiber cloth on to, and use the cloth like a cleaning pad. Spray down your your mirrors with your favorite cleaner, and get to cleaning! Watch the video below for reference.
3. Use a toilet bowl cleaner to deep clean your dirty grout.
You may be thinking, ” Are you serious?”. But this hack actually works! If you need convincing, watch the TikTok video below. A lot of people never even think of cleaning the grout in their kitchens or bathrooms until they realize that the gray grout they’re looking at used to be white. For this hack, you’ll want to take a toilet bowl cleaner, specifically with a fine nozzle, and put the cleaner directly on your grout. Let it sit for 10 minutes and voila! You can use a scrub brush or even a toothbrush to scrub the grout and you’ll be amazed at the amount of dirt that is released.
4. Use a bowl of water to clean your microwave.
This hack is not too good to be true, I promise! Microwaves can be a pain to clean because of all of the food that gets crusted on over time. However, this hack is a super simple way to loosen up all of the gunk that may be stuck on the inside of your microwave to make cleaning it easier. First you’re going to fill up a microwave safe bowl with water, and pop it in the microwave for 5-minutes. The water will begin to boil and turn into steam which will help soften the crusty food. Then you’ll carefully take the bowl out of the microwave (it will be hot) and spray your microwave down with your favorite cleaner. Wipe away all of the grossness and you’ll be left with a sparkling clean microwave!
5. Use a dryer sheet to dust your baseboards.
Here’s a quick way to get the dust off of your baseboards: use a dryer sheet. It doesn’t matter what kind of dryer sheet it is, they all have a similar consistency. Like a microfiber cloth, the dust easily clings to the dryer sheet, leaving behind a hair and dust-free surface. This is a great tip because many people already have dryer sheets at home. Watch the video below for a demonstration.
Hopefully, these TikTok cleaning hacks make your life a little easier. It can be difficult to keep up with the cleanliness of your home while juggling everyday life. So, if you’re mustering up the motivation to clean your home, watching these videos may help.
